INFO WINDOWS

INTRODUCTION

IL-2 Cliffs of Dover and Desert Wings:Tobruk uses a system called "Info Windows" to display information on your screen. This is overlaid on the game screen, meaning it's visible most of the time. As the information ages, it fades out of view after a set time, hence some windows in the screenshot below not displaying any information.

Info Windows display things on your screen such as:

  • Engine settings (Engine RPM, Throttle, Radiatior settings)

  • Radio Transmissions (Info from ground controllers)

  • Aircraft Information (actions you take, such as raising/lowering undercarriage, opening rads, changing gunsight settings)

  • Server Chat

  • Server information (people joining/leaving or objectives or aircraft hit/damaged)

  • Damage information (damage to your own aircraft)

The areas circled in the screenshot below are info windows displaying different bits of info. These windows are entirely customisable. You can create different windows spread over different parts of the screen to disect the information into different areas,, or concentrate all the info into one or two windows. You can choose the text size, text colour and position of all the windows on your screen. You can also choose to hide the window titles if you like.

The info windows are not exactly configured to begin with. Customising them can seem a little bit daunting.

There is however a great tutorial, which will help you understand how they work.

If you still have any questions. Post them below.
